random photos from my BKK trip!

this is my funky cousin who joined us in thailand. she brought us around and helped made sure i went to the places i wrote down on my "To-Shop-At" list! haha!

old school glass bottles for soft drinks! cute right!

something wormie wong will love - hot pink taxi! hehhe the cabs there are really colourful - hot pink, yellow, orange, cobalt blue, white etc! it's a pretty sight when the roads are busy, esp. with my favourite TUT-TUTs! (which sadly, i forgot to take a proper picture of..) but the air is really dusty along the roads, probably because most of the cars use diesel? and the traffic jams were a boo-boo. red lights take approximately 10mins to turn green! omg however, you dont hear much of rude horns despite the crazy traffic, they simply slow down and give way! *thumbs-up* ooo and i didnt even see proper road dividers!
heart-shaped mushroom in thailand!

puppies being sold at chatuchak market.
there're a whole lot more cages and stalls selling them, but i didnt dare to take photos cos of the fierce shopkeepers!

their king was born on a Monday, so the Thais would make an effort to wear yellow every monday.
so we joined in the fun!

Thais are really devout buddhists. these buddha statues were prominently placed right in front of a huge shopping centre! and it's a common sight to see their people, young or old and even the trendy, wearing a gold chain with a relatively large buddha pendant on their necks.

my mum and i went for the express manicure which took abt 30-40mins!
cheap and pretty! =D

my dad let us spike up his hair.
we were going for The Cabaret Show!
unfortunately, i got the names of the hotels mixed up and went for the wrong one. the previous one i watched was entertaining and good, this one was lousy. my dad got scared cos the theatre was really small and we were sitting in the first row -- we could see the thick calves and armpit/leg hairs, even when they had breasts...

a birthday celebration in the middle of October! hahhaha
my father secretly arranged it and when the gigantic ice-cream thing came, he was smiling so widely like it was really my birthday!
and then my mum bluffed me that birthday people will be invited on stage to dance.. it got me freaked out for half an hour - i kept thinking of ways to escape!
oo and she later bluffed me AGAIN that she'll be going onstage to take part in the beer-drinking competition.. LOL.

now i know why im almost 20 years old but still behave like a big kid most of the time.
it's in the genes!

hehe actually i have a couple more photos, including a baby elephant along the street but its such a hassle to add photos on blogspot.
maybe i'll upload them another time! hehehhe

ohh and i look unglam in the photos because i didnt put ANY makeup on!
i noticed the ladies there dont put much makeup, if any!
they look really simple and natural, and are definitely not stingy with smiles.
although i've only been to the tourists-safe places in bangkok, i thought they deserved the "Land of Thousand Smiles" title.

unlike Singapore, the "Land of Siao-Ah,Smile-At-Me-For-What?"

oh yah! i got mistaken as a thai several times!
which isnt much of a surprise to me lah, because its common to have people doubting my "pure Chinese, Singaporean" identity! lol!
and there was this very sweet female shop assistant who told me,
"you look very beautiful."

see why i love bangkok? LOL!
