assuming i'll live to a ripe old age of 80, i think im experiencing quarter-life crisis now.

yesterday morning, i was listening attentively to the lecture on Culture, when i was suddenly struck by a thought - why am i studying sociology?

it was really sudden. i started answering my own question inwardly, only to have more questions firing back at me. (my inquisitive mind never failed to amaze me. haha!)
well. i love sociology, no doubt about that.
but i realise that its not what i want or need professionally.
call me shallow, materialistic, practical, whatever - but sociology doesnt take me to where i want to be.
sure enough, the knowledge gained through this course widened my perspectives a whole lot.
i used to have a narrow view on the world, took things for granted and at surface level.
never pondered about what space communicates, what culture REALLY is about. (and i learnt, what i originally thought of culture is terribly shallow. lol)

but it is perhaps, too general.
a degree in sociology doesnt have industrial attachment - just FYP in which im supposed to do a research.
i need and i want practical skills.

i want to know how to manage an organization, market a product, sell an idea.
yes, no doubt sociology's broad curriculum may benefit in some way or another - but if i have to specialize after graduating, i might as well do it now.

instead of getting a 4 year honors degree, working 2 years and then going overseas to pursue another degree in hospitality - im looking at taking up a 2 year diploma in hospitality & tourism, working 2 years and then further my studies abroad.
i'd save 2 years of my life, though i've wasted 1.

i cant lament if nobody understands my POV.
but i thank the above that my parents are supportive.
my boy isnt, but its okay - having convince him makes me think thoroughly through the idea, and i can convince myself further.

im always doing such stunts to my parents.
once 2 years ago, another now.
if i am my mother, i think i'll faint.
